Frontier Airlines Finishes 2008 Among Industry Leaders in All Major DOT Reporting Categories

Strong Operational Performance Combines with Profitable Year-End Financial Figures To Provide Solid Platform for Future Success

DENVER, Feb. 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Frontier Airlines was one of only two recognized major carriers to rank in the top five in all four major Department of Transportation reporting categories according to the DOT's year-end "Air Travel Consumer Report." The report details the operational performance of the country's 19 largest air carriers, including the 11 recognized major airlines.

Highlights for Frontier from the compilation of 2008 DOT stats include:

  • Frontier ranked first among the recognized major carriers and first in the industry in overall flight completion, meaning Frontier cancelled fewer flights in 2008 than any other reporting U.S. carrier. This is the second consecutive year Frontier has led the airline industry in fewest flight cancellations.

  • Frontier ranked third among major carriers and fifth among all reporting carriers in on-time arrivals. This is the third consecutive year Frontier has finished among the top three major carriers.

  • Frontier ranked third among major carriers and fifth among all carriers in fewest customer complaints filed with the DOT. The 2008 performance marked the third consecutive year that Frontier ranked among the top three major carriers in fewest complaints.

  • Frontier tied for fifth among the major carriers and eighth among all reporting carriers in lowest mishandled bag ratio. The 2008 performance represented a 28% improvement compared with 2007.

"These statistics, combined with our financial performance for the last quarter are simply amazing and put us in a very positive position going forward," said Frontier Chief Operating Officer Chris Collins. "2008 was challenging on so many fronts for Frontier, but our people rose to the challenge. To run a safe, customer-oriented airline while producing these kind of performance results is a tribute to the hard work and dedication of our employees."
