Sep 20, 2005Frontier Airlines Reports Preliminary Traffic for September 2005DENVER (Oct. 6, 2005) – Frontier Airlines (Nasdaq: FRNT) today announced preliminary traffic results for September 2005. Revenue passenger miles increased 20.9 percent to 553,748,000 for September 2005 from the same period last year. Available seat miles increased 9.6 percent to 779,445,000 for September 2005 from the same period last year. This resulted in a record September load factor for September 2005 of 71.0 percent, an increase of 6.6 points from September 2004, when the airline reported a load factor of 64.4 percent. The airline carried 586,103 passengers during September 2005, a 25.2 percent increase from September 2004. The airline reported passenger yield of 10.32 cents for the month of September 2005, an increase of 5.1 percent from the same period last year. Its passenger revenue per available seat mile was 7.33 cents, up 1.01 cents or 16.0 percent from September 2004. For the month of September 2005, the airline's average length of haul decreased 3.4 percent to 945 miles as compared to the same period last year. "While we are pleased to report a 16 percent passenger unit revenue increase compared to last September's results, it is important to note that our enthusiasm is tempered by fuel price increases which have outpaced traffic growth and fare increases," said Jeff Potter, President and CEO. "In addition, given the recent hurricanes in the Gulf Coast and the subsequent constriction in refinery output, we don't anticipate any immediate relief from related price spikes." The following table represents mainline comparisons for the month of September year-over-year, calendar 2005 year-over-year, fiscal 2006 year-over-year and the quarter ended September year-over-year traffic results.
