Frontier Airlines Receives Approval to Fly from Austin and Nashville to Cancun

DENVER (July 15, 2004) - Frontier Airlines (Nasdaq: FRNT) has received approval from the Department of Transportation (DOT) to begin non-stop service between Cancun International Airport (CUN) and Nashville International Airport (BNA), as well as Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS). The service from both cities, pending approval from the government of Mexico, will begin November 7, 2004 offering three flights a week to Cancun. Frontier currently flies between its Denver hub and five beach destinations in Mexico: Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlán and Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo.

Frontier also announced added frequency from its Denver (DEN) hub and Kansas City (MCI) to Cancun for the peak winter season including the following:

  • Service from Kansas City to Cancun will increase from Saturday only service to Monday, Wednesday and Saturday service beginning November 7, 2004.
  • Also beginning November 7, 2004, service from Denver to Cancun will gain three additional flights per week departing Denver on Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday mornings, and returning from Cancun on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday evenings.

To celebrate the new service, Frontier is offering $174* fares each way for off-peak travel between Cancun and Nashville and $129* fares each way for off-peak travel between Cancun and Austin. Fares require a round-trip purchase and must be purchased by midnight EDT August 31, 2004 for travel from November 7, 2004 through February 17, 2005. The additional frequencies and new service are all available for purchase on July 15, 2004.

"With the announcement of our new service from Austin and Nashville to Cancun, we can proudly say that no scheduled airline flies from more cities in the U.S. to Cancun than Frontier," said Andrew Hudson, senior director of marketing and communications. "We have seen great support for our Cancun service even during the traditionally slower months of summer, and with the recent addition of service from Kansas City, Salt Lake City, Austin and Nashville, as well as additional frequencies from Denver, we are looking forward to a strong fall and winter in Mexico."

Frontier is recognized throughout the nation for its unique customer amenities including low fares, new Airbus jets, 24 Channels of LiveTV and Frontier's generous EarlyReturns frequent flyer program that allows travelers to earn a free ticket at only 15,000 miles domestically and 25,000 miles to Mexico - the lowest in the aviation industry.
