Frontier Airlines Continues Summer Expansion with Several New Destinations and Increased Frequencies

DENVER (Feb. 26, 2004) - Frontier Airlines (Nasdaq: FRNT) today announced plans to begin service between its Denver International Airport (DEN) hub and Nashville International Airport (BNA), Billings Logan International Airport (BIL) and Spokane International Airport (GEG). In addition, Frontier will add frequencies from Denver to several of its most popular destinations including Dallas (DFW), San Jose (SJC), San Francisco (SFO), Seattle (SEA), and Atlanta (ATL).

The service to Nashville, which will utilize Frontier's new 114-seat Airbus A318 aircraft, will start on June 20, 2004, with two daily non-stops between Denver and Nashville. Service to both Billings and Spokane will utilize Frontier JetExpress' 70-seat CRJ-700 aircraft with two daily non-stops to both destinations beginning on May 23, 2004.

Frontier's frequency increases will include the following:

Beginning May 23, 2004

  • Denver to/from Dallas from four mainline flights to five
  • Denver to/from San Francisco from four mainline flights to five
  • Denver to/from San Jose from one RJ and two mainline flights to two RJ and two mainline flights for a total of four flights

Beginning June 20, 2004

  • Denver to/from Seattle from four to five flights

Beginning July 18, 2004

  • Denver to/from Atlanta from two to three flights

Including today's announcement, Frontier's 2004 expansion represents the following since January 1, 2004:

  • A 30 percent increase in total system-wide mainline and RJ departures from 196 to 254
  • A 25 percent increase in available Frontier mainline and RJ system-wide seats
  • Seven new cities and a total of 11 new routes/destinations (including Los Angeles point-to-point flights)
  • An increase from four to nine regional jets

"Securing gate space at DIA, the acquisition of additional Airbus aircraft last year, and our new RJ partnership with Horizon Air has helped create a foundation for an expansion plan that will take us well into 2008, " said Sean Menke, senior vice president of marketing. "The culmination of the past three months' announcements including our Los Angeles focus city and our new service to Philadelphia, Anchorage, and Washington-Dulles is a significant initial phase of that expansion," he said. "With the addition of today's new service and the frequency increases to five of our existing destinations, we are preparing ourselves for the busiest summer in our history.

"Equally important as our system-wide growth is the opportunity we see in Nashville, Billings, and Spokane. We look forward to bringing a new affordable option to those communities for non-stop travel to Denver and great connections to destinations throughout our network. Whether it's with Frontier JetExpress service, operated by our great partner Horizon Air, in Billings and Spokane or our new Airbus A318 aircraft with 33 inches of seat pitch and LiveTV, in Nashville, we are confident that consumers in those markets will embrace this new option for travel," added Menke.

"Today's customers are looking for excellent customer service at a low cost and that is what Frontier Airlines can provide our community," said Raul L. Regalado, President and CEO of the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority. "We look forward to a long and successful partnership with Frontier Airlines."
