May 20, 2003Frontier Airlines Reports Preliminary May 2003 TrafficDENVER (June 5, 2003) - Frontier Airlines (Nasdaq: FRNT) today announced preliminary traffic results for May 2003. Revenue passenger miles (RPMs) increased 27.5 percent to 363,931,000 for May 2003 from the same period last year. Available seat miles (ASMs) increased 21.5 percent to 559,615,000 for May 2003 from the same period last year. This resulted in a load factor for May 2003 of 65.0 percent, an increase of 3.0 points from May 2002. The airline carried 398,504 passengers during May 2003, and reported an average fare of $104 for the month of May 2003, a 3.7 percent decrease from May 2002, when the airline's average fare was $108. The airline's preliminary May 2003 traffic results do not include statistics of Mesa Air Group, operating as Frontier JetExpress. "We believe our increase in traffic during May 2003 is the result of our May 4 schedule change, which put more frequency into our more popular markets, as well as continued positive response from the fare structure change we made earlier this year. In addition, our summer bookings are reflecting positive signs of increased travel demand," said Sean Menke, vice president of marketing and planning. The following table represents comparisons for Frontier's May, fiscal, and calendar year-over-year traffic results* (excluding Frontier JetExpress).
