Frontier Airlines Chief Jeff Potter and wife Kelly named March of Dimes WalkAmerica Co-Chairs
DENVER (Jan. 24, 2003) Frontier Airlines President and Chief Executive Officer Jeff Potter and his wife, Kelly, have been named co-chairs of the March of Dimes WalkAmerica, it was announced today. In their role, the Potters will oversee all facets of the event, from corporate sponsorship and team recruitment to promotion and logistics. WalkAmerica will be held in Denver on Saturday, April 26, 2003, at Civic Center Park and throughout downtown.
"For the past three years, the employees of Frontier Airlines have supported the March of Dimes WalkAmerica, and Kelly and I are honored to help lead their efforts as co-chairs for this year's event," said Potter. "On behalf of Frontier, we are very proud to partner with the March of Dimes, a highly respected organization with an enormously successful track record of improving the health of the tiniest babies."
Celebrating its 33rd anniversary in 2003, WalkAmerica is the nation's oldest walking event and the largest annual March of Dimes fundraiser. It takes place in 1,400 communities across the country. In addition to Denver, other Colorado communities hosting WalkAmerica events include Boulder, Colorado Springs, Greeley, Larimer County and Pueblo.
Funds raised through WalkAmerica support March of Dimes efforts to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects and infant mortality. A key March of Dimes initiative is fighting prematurity, the leading cause of newborn death in Colorado and nationwide. The March of Dimes works to achieve its mission through research, community services, education and advocacy. The WalkAmerica 2003 fundraising goal for Colorado is $1.3 million. This year, $1.2 million was raised.
