Jul 20, 2002Frontier Airlines Reports Preliminary July 2002 TrafficDENVER (Aug. 7, 2002) Frontier Airlines (Nasdaq: FRNT) today announced preliminary traffic results for July 2002. Revenue passenger miles (RPMs) increased 10.7 percent to 341,538,000 for July 2002 from the same period last year. Available seat miles (ASMs) increased 18.8 percent to 528,300,000 for July 2002 from the same period last year. This resulted in a load factor for July 2002 of 64.7 percent, a decrease of 4.7 points from July 2001, when the airline reported a load factor of 69.4 percent. The airline carried 361,682 passengers during July 2002, an 7.4 percent increase from July 2001. The airline reported an average fare of $104 for the month of July 2002, a 20.0 percent decrease from July 2001 when the airlines average fare was $130. We continued to experience downward pressure on our average fare during July; however during the latter part of July and thus far in August we have seen a reversal in this trend, said Sean Menke, vice president of marketing and planning. Also during July we carried a record number of customers and we are pleased to offer Frontiers affordable fares to this growing base. The following table represents comparisons for July, fiscal and calendar year-over-year traffic results.
