Apr 20, 2002Frontier Airlines Reports April 2002 TrafficDENVER (May 8, 2002) - Frontier Airlines (Nasdaq: FRNT) today announced traffic results for April 2002. Revenue passenger miles (RPMs) increased 11.2 percent to 271,440,000 for April 2002 from the same period last year. Available seat miles (ASMs) increased 22.6 percent to 440,466,000 for April 2002 from the same period last year. This resulted in a load factor for April 2002 of 61.6 percent, a decrease of 6.3 points from April 2001, when the airline reported a load factor of 67.9 percent. The airline carried 291,862 passengers during April 2002, an 11.3 percent increase from April 2001. The airline reported an average fare of $112 for the month of April 2002, an 18.8 percent decrease from April 2001 when the airline's average fare was $138. "We are pleased that more customers continue to choose Frontier as their
carrier of choice; however, the average fare paid in April reflects the ongoing
effects of operating in a very challenging fare environment inundated with highly
discounted fares and an abundance of excess capacity," said Sean Menke,
vice president of marketing and planning. "Our focus remains on managing
our inventory competitively, and we look forward to the busy summer travel season
as we inaugurate service to Indianapolis, Boise and Tampa."
