Mar 20, 2002Frontier Airlines Reports March 2002 TrafficDENVER (Apr. 8, 2002) - Frontier Airlines (Nasdaq: FRNT) today announced traffic results for March 2002. Revenue passenger miles (RPMs) increased 23.3 percent to 312,361,000 for March 2002 from the same period last year. Available seat miles (ASMs) increased 21.3 percent to 463,431,000 for March 2002 from the same period last year. This resulted in a load factor for March 2002 of 67.4 percent, an increase of 1.1 points from March 2001, when the airline reported a load factor of 66.3 percent. The airline carried 334,210 passengers during March 2002, an 18.6 percent increase from March 2001. The airline reported an average fare of $126 for the month of March 2002, a 14.3 percent decrease from March 2001 when the airline’s average fare was $147. Fiscal 2002 RPMs decreased 0.6 percent to 2,756,965,000; fiscal 2002 ASMs increased 7.8 percent to 4,592,298,000. The airline’s fiscal 2002 load factor was 60.0 percent, a decrease of 5.1 points from the airline’s fiscal 2001 load factor of 65.1 percent. “We are encouraged by our March traffic particularly given the resumption
of capacity increases throughout the industry,” said Sean Menke, vice president
of marketing and planning. “Demand for Frontier’s services was strong
during March, and we look forward to bringing competition to Ontario and St.
Louis, which we inaugurated yesterday through our affiliate Frontier JetExpress,
operated by Mesa Air Group.”
