Feb 20, 2002Frontier Airlines Reports February 2002 TrafficDENVER (Mar. 8, 2002) - Frontier Airlines (Nasdaq: FRNT) today announced traffic results for February 2002. Revenue passenger miles (RPMs) increased 0.8 percent to 202,741,000 for February 2002 from the same period last year. Available seat miles (ASMs) increased 13.4 percent to 378,590,000 for February 2002 from the same period last year. This resulted in a load factor for February 2002 of 53.6 percent, a decrease of 6.6 points from February 2001, when the airline reported a load factor of 60.2 percent. The airline carried 229,196 passengers during February 2002, a 3.6 percent increase from February 2001. The airline reported an average fare of $132 for the month of February 2002, a 9.0 percent decrease from February 2001 when the airline's average fare was $145. Fiscal year-to-date RPMs decreased 3.0 percent to 2,444,604,000; fiscal year-to-date ASMs increased 6.5 percent to 4,128,867,000. The airline's fiscal year-to-date load factor was 59.2 percent, a decrease of 5.8 points from the same period last year. "We are encouraged to see a growing traffic base as we continue to improve and add connecting opportunities for our passengers, including new service to Fort Lauderdale, New Orleans and Sacramento in February," said Vice President of Marketing and Planning Sean Menke. "A more significant issue impacting our traffic during the month was the industry's continued discounting of fares due, in part, to added capacity."
