Aug 10, 2001Frontier Airlines Goes Live With Spirent Systems? AuRA™ MRO Software SolutionSAN DIEGO (August 10, 2001) - Frontier Airlines (Nasdaq: FRNT ) Denver-based Frontier Airlines has gone live with Spirent Systems’ AuRA™ Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul software solution for the airline’s fleet of Boeing 737-200/300 and Airbus 319 aircraft. Beginning on August 1, Frontier mechanics, engineers and purchasing agents began entering aircraft parts and tracking information into AuRA. The implementation comes after a year of tailoring AuRA to meet Frontier’s specifications, training their users and preparing employees for the significant change in the maintenance, inventory, aircraft records and quality assurance processes that will occur. AuRA will transition Frontier Airlines from a legacy 3GL system with paper-based Business Processes, to utilizing AuRA in an advanced automation Business Process using a fully networked environment including RF technology where appropriate at all levels of the MRO business domain. This will greatly enhance the capturing of maintenance costs, material movement and rotable tracking to help drive down the ‘cost of ownership’ for Frontier. “One of the keys to achieving this successful implementation has been the outstanding teamwork exhibited by the joint Frontier / Spirent team,” said Mike Hickey, Executive Vice President of Spirent Systems. “Frontier Airlines dedicated five experienced, full time employees to this effort, and provided the needed part-time expertise of key process experts from all their functional groups. We look forward to our continuing partnership with Frontier Airlines.“ Also during the past year, Spirent project team members completed a full “As-Is” and “To-Be” analysis of Frontier’s purchasing and maintenance inventory procedures. This is a standard implementation tool for Spirent that not only enhances the Business Processes for each business area, but also interjects AuRA where automation is best used. Once “To-Be” processes are in place, Change Management is less of an impact to users, which expedites the change to a fully integrated MRO solution. “We are excited about the success that has been achieved so far at Frontier Airlines with AuRA. But the true success here won’t just be ours. It will be Frontier’s, when they realize the targeted business benefits and how they flow to their bottom line,” said Mike Richardson, President of Spirent Systems. “Frontier chose Spirent Systems and AuRA because of our integrated maintenance and supply functionality and our airline expertise embodied in our implementation strategies. We are happy to have delivered in these areas, and more. It makes this project prone to success for all involved.” “We’ve been very pleased with the Spirent application, both the product’s capabilities and the implementation process which provided for comprehensive training and a efficient integration to the new system,” said Vice President of Maintenance and Engineering Bill Schaudt. “As we begin our transition to an all-Airbus fleet, the AuRA system will provide an ideal opportunity to track our inventory with more detailed accuracy and equips us with the next generation of maintenance repair and overhaul technology.” The most robust suite of integrated product repair, configuration, refurbishment, maintenance and inventory management software modules available, AuRA™ supports every aspect of commercial maintenance operations. Its process-based user interface is built around Business Processes rather than Functional Processes. This means that AuRA™ delivers the right information to the right people to get the job done efficiently - instead of overwhelming them with a torrent of data from which they must first filter out the information they need, then get on with the necessary tasks.
