DENVER (Feb. 15, 2001) - Frontier Airlines' (Nasdaq: FRNT ) today announced that is has partnered with SideStep ( http://www.sidestep.com ) a new online travel service that allows consumers to find the best travel deals and then directs them to the vendor's site for purchase. SideStep is available for free by downloading the application from Frontier Airlines' Web site at http://www.frontierairlines.com or from the SideStep Web site at http://www.sidestep.com .
Through this new partnership, SideStep will drive booking traffic directly to Frontier's Web site, the airline's lowest cost sales channel. By connecting travel buyers directly with the airline, SideStep will enable Frontier Airlines to develop closer, more valuable relationships with online consumers, expand Frontier Airlines' online distribution, reduce its costs, and bring lower fares to customers shopping for travel online.
In addition to air travel, SideStep also offers a rich selection of hotel rooms and rental cars -- including Web specials -- all in one place. The service takes travel buyers directly to supplier sites to book their travel, bringing them within a few clicks of purchase from brands they trust. SideStep also gives consumers the opportunity to receive valuable special offers, such as bonus miles.
"Frontier is deeply committed to enhancing our customers' booking and travel experiences through online tools such as our advanced booking engine and flight status text messaging," said Lowell Miller, director of e-commerce. "One of our on-going goals has been to drive traffic to our Web site where we can pass along great deals to consumers at our lowest available fares. Our partnership with SideStep gives us another opportunity to strengthen that position."
"Frontier Airlines is known for offering fares that are typically priced well below the competition, but the power of the Internet to connect Frontier with its potential customers has not been fully realized," noted Brian Barth, SideStep's CEO. "SideStep bridges this gap by enabling Frontier to connect directly with its customers and reduce its distribution costs. At the same time, SideStep empowers consumers with access to more than 90 travel suppliers -- so they can quickly and easily find the best travel deals on the Web."
