Aug 22, 2000Frontier Airlines to Lease Additional AircraftDenver (August 22, 2000) - Frontier Airlines (Nasdaq: FRNT ) today announced it has entered into an aircraft lease agreement for an additional 136-seat Boeing 737-300 jet from International Lease Finance Corporation (ILFC). The aircraft will be available for service Sept. 15, 2000. With today's announcement, Frontier's fleet consists of 18 737-300s and seven 737-200s. "The addition of this aircraft allows us to meet the requirements of our year-over-year growth plan, which calls for an increase in available seat miles in excess of 20 percent," said Frontier President Sam Addoms. "We look forward to adding Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport to our route structure on September 7, as well as increasing the number of frequencies in some of our key markets." Denver-based Frontier Airlines serves 22 cities coast to coast with a fleet of 25 Boeing 737 jets and employs approximately 2,200 aviation professionals. The airline is the second largest jet service carrier of Denver International Airport with an average of 112 daily systemwide departures and arrivals. Unlike other airlines, Frontier's low fares do not have a Saturday night stay requirement. In addition, Frontier offers frequent flyer miles in Continental Airlines' OnePass® program. In 1999, Frontier was named "Best Low-Fare Carrier" by Entrepreneur Magazine in the publication's sixth annual Business Travel Awards. Also in 1999, the airline received the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) prestigious Aviation Maintenance Technician Employers Diamond Certificate of Excellence Award, which provides special recognition to airlines that have 25 percent of eligible employees complete an advanced aircraft maintenance training program.
