Frontier Airlines Unveils Redesigned Web Site

DENVER (May 15, 2000) - Frontier Airlines (Nasdaq: FRNT ) today unveiled its newly redesigned Web site, which can be accessed at http://www.frontierairlines.com . Enhancements to the airline's site include real-time flight tracking and access to exclusive travel deals offered by the airline's travel partners. The airline also announced it has signed a Letter of Intent to purchase EDS' Versatile Internet Booking Engine (VIBE), and implement that system by the end of calendar 2000. VIBE offers the schedules, reservations and flight information required for a rapidly increasing Web business.

"We've improved navigation and streamlined the site, which should make it easier for our customers to access accurate and useful content quickly, and when applicable, act on that information by booking a flight," said Frontier Airlines Vice President of Marketing Jeff Potter.

"EDS is dedicated to providing Frontier with evolving system enhancements to promote the growth of their Internet booking capabilities," said Bill Richard, client executive for EDS. "VIBE is a powerful platform for continued expansions of capacity and future innovative features."

Site enhancements include:

  • Booking capabilities on every page of the Web site: Customers can browse the entire site while continuously maintaining the capability to view the airline's schedules and fares, as well as book a reservation.
  • New flight information feature: Need to know when to leave the house to pick up an arriving passenger, or wondering if your flight is departing on time? Access real-time flight data through the airline's new flight information tracking system, which is provided by FlightView® data from RLM Software, Inc.
  • Consistent navigation with easy to follow site map: Allows browsers to view an overview of the Web site.
  • New flash enhanced route map: Customers can select their itineraries via an interactive route map.
  • Expanded "About Frontier" section: Provides comprehensive information for potential fliers, media representatives, investors, students and anyone else seeking up-to-date information about the airline.
  • Exclusive partner offers: Allows Frontier travel partners to offer exclusive deals via Frontier's Web site. For instance, Alamo currently offers a 20 percent discount to Frontier customers.
  • New "Frequently Answered Questions" section: Customers can view answers to the most commonly asked questions the airline receives. In addition, users can ask their own questions and receive a personal reply within 72 hours.
  • Updated professional look and feel: The airline has taken steps to minimize text where possible as more concise descriptions allow customers to more quickly scan pages for the information they are seeking.

The airline's redesign initiative was led by Frontier Airlines Director, e-Commerce Lowell Miller and Web Site Project Manager Tricia Scheick, who worked with the airline's Web site agency of record, Louisville, Colorado-based Fourmula Technologies LLP.

"Fourmula Technologies is excited and pleased with the launch of Frontier's new site," said Fourmula Technologies Vice President of Marketing Paul Meriweather. "We look forward to our partnership with a strong company like Frontier Airlines that will include future e-products."

Denver-based Frontier Airlines serves 21 cities coast to coast with a fleet of 23 Boeing 737 jets and employs approximately 2,000 aviation professionals. Unlike other airlines, Frontier's low fares do not have a Saturday night stay requirement. In addition, Frontier offers frequent flyer miles in Continental Airlines' OnePass® program. In 1999, Frontier was named "Best Low-Fare Carrier" by Entrepreneur Magazine in the publication's sixth annual Business Travel Awards. Also in 1999, the airline received the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) prestigious Aviation Maintenance Technician Employers Diamond Certificate of Excellence Award, which provides special recognition to airlines that have 100 percent of eligible employees complete an advanced training aircraft maintenance training program.
