Jun 25, 1999Frontier Airlines Recognized at Regional Entrepreneur of the Year Awards BanquetDENVER (June 25, 1999) - Frontier Airlines (Nasdaq: FRNT ) today announced that its president Sam Addoms has been named Entrepreneur of the Year for the services sector at the 1999 Rocky Mountain Entrepreneur of the Year awards. The awards, founded and produced by Ernest & Young LLP, were presented at a June 24 banquet in Denver, Colo. "This award is being accepted on behalf of Frontier and its 1,700 employees because this recognition is really about the Frontier employees and their entrepreneurial efforts," said Addoms. "If the word entrepreneur is defined as one who follows a vision even though there is some degree of risk and uncertainty in doing so, then every employee who has ever gone to work for a start-up company is, in my mind, an entrepreneur. I am extremely grateful that the people of Frontier have made the decision to walk to the beat of a different drummer by choosing to employ their talents with Frontier, as opposed to larger and more tenured airlines." Addoms joined Frontier in 1993 and has served as the airline's president since 1994. The airline will celebrate its fifth year of service on July 5, 1999, commemorating its initial start-up when the airline's 180 employees offered service with two Boeing 737-200 jets flying to four markets. Since that time, the airline's employee base has grown from 180 employees to 1,700; the fleet has grown from two jets to 19 and the airline's route system has grown from four markets to 20. On June 2, 1999, the airline announced its first profitable year for its fiscal year ended March 31, 1999, when operating revenues for the airline's fiscal year ended March 31, 1999 increased nearly 50 percent while operating expenses during the same time period only increased 18 percent. Denver-based Frontier Airlines commenced operations on July 5, 1994. Unlike other airlines, Frontier's low fares do not have a Saturday night stay requirement. In addition, Frontier offers frequent flyer miles in Continental Airlines' OnePass® program. The airline currently serves 20 cities coast to coast with a fleet of 19 Boeing 737 jets and employs approximately 1,700 travel professionals. Frontier was recently named "Best Domestic Low-Fare Air Carrier" by Entrepreneur magazine in the publication's sixth annual Business Travel Awards.
