Frontier Airlines Names Portland City Manager
DENVER (May 21, 1999) - Frontier Airlines (NASDAQ: FRNT ) today announced the appointment of Kevin Gornik to city manager for the airline's newest destination, Portland, Ore. The airline plans to begin serving Portland with two daily nonstop flights on June 14.
Gornik, 24, holds a bachelor's degree from Arizona State University. He joined Frontier in 1997 as customer serviceamp coordinator and is currently based at the airline's Phoenix station. Prior to joining Frontier, Gornik served in various capacities with Arizona State University. Gornik is originally from Joliet, Illinois.
"Opening a new city requires a great deal of energy, organization and a tenacious spirit. Kevin has been successful in demonstrating these traits in Phoenix and I am confident he will successfully introduce Frontier's legendary customer service to the Portland community," said Vice President Station Operations and Customer Service Red Barringer.
Denver-based Frontier Airlines commenced operations on July 5, 1994. Unlike other airlines, Frontier's low fares do not have a Saturday night stay requirement. In addition, Frontier offers frequent flier mileage points in Continental Airlines' OnePass® program. Effective June 14, the airline will serve 20 cities coast to coast with a fleet of 19 Boeing 737 jets. The airline currently employs approximately 1,600 travel professionals. Frontier was recently named "Best Domestic Low-Fare Air Carrier" by Entrepreneur magazine in the publication's sixth annual Business Travel Awards.
