Frontier Airlines to Sponsor San Diego's Fleet Week
DENVER (February 12, 1999) -- ; Frontier Airlines (NASDAQ: FRNT) today announced it has renewed its status as the Official Airline of Fleet Week, a celebration honoring San Diego's sailors, Marines, Coast Guard personnel and their families. Fleet Week is produced by the Greater San Diego Chamber of Commerce and is scheduled to run during the month of July. During this year's Fleet Week celebration, Frontier will register Fleet Week attendees for trip giveaways to various Frontier destinations from a promotional booth, staffed by Frontier employees.
"Our Fleet Week sponsorship was very successful last year and also provided us with a wonderful opportunity to reacquaint the San Diego community with Frontier," said Frontier Director of Sales and Marketing Tom Allee. "In addition, we truly value our relationship with our military constituents and our sponsorship of Fleet Week is a tangible way to convey that positive relationship."
"I am pleased that Frontier Airlines will once again be a sponsor of Fleet Week," said Jim Wiesler, president of the San Diego Chamber of Commerce. "With the support of corporate sponsors, we have been able to make Fleet Week the crown jewel of events honoring our military."
Denver-based Frontier Airlines commenced operations on July 5, 1994. Unlike other airlines, Frontier's low fares do not have a Saturday night stay requirement. In addition, Frontier offers frequent flier mileage points in Continental Airlines OnePass program. The airline currently serves 19 cities coast to coast with a fleet of 17 Boeing 737 jets and employs approximately 1,300 travel professionals.
