Aug 20, 2004Frontier Airlines Reports Preliminary Traffic for August 2004DENVER (September 7, 2004) - Frontier Airlines (Nasdaq: FRNT) today announced preliminary traffic results for August 2004. Revenue passenger miles increased 29.0 percent to 597,704,000 for August 2004 from the same period last year. Available seat miles increased 39.7 percent to 812,377,000 for August 2004 from the same period last year. This resulted in a load factor for August 2004 of 73.6 percent, a decrease of 6.1 points from August 2003, when the airline reported a load factor of 79.7 percent. The airline carried 598,951 passengers during August 2004, an 18.1 percent increase from August 2003. The airline reported passenger yield of 10.07 cents for the month of August 2004, a decrease of 12.6 percent from the same period last year. Its preliminary passenger revenue per available seat mile was 7.41 cents, down 1.77 cents or 19.3 percent from August 2003. For the month of August 2004, the airline's average length of haul increased 9.3 percent to 998 miles, compared to the same period last year. In addition, the Company reports in an update to remarks made at the end of its first fiscal quarter, it now expects a net loss for its second fiscal quarter due to a weaker than expected revenue environment in the second half of the quarter and a significant increase in the expected average price per gallon for fuel during August and September.
