Aug 20, 2003Frontier Airlines Reports Preliminary August 2003 TrafficDENVER (Sept. 8, 2003) - Frontier Airlines (Nasdaq: FRNT) today announced preliminary traffic results for August 2003. Revenue passenger miles (RPMs) increased 37.9 percent to 463,434,000 for August 2003 from the same period last year. Available seat miles (ASMs) increased 8.0 percent to 581,352,000 for August 2003 from the same period last year. This resulted in a load factor for August 2003 of 79.7 percent, an increase of 17.2 points from August 2002, when the airline reported a load factor of 62.5 percent. The airline carried 507,359 passengers during August 2003, a 41.8 percent increase from August 2002. The airline reported an average fare of $105 for the month of August 2003, a 5.1 percent decrease from August 2002 when the airline's average fare was $111. "In August, we saw a record load factor for the third consecutive month, ending the busiest summer travel season in our history," stated Vice President of Marketing and Planning Sean Menke. "Frontier's customers saw this summer as an opportunity to take advantage of our every day low fares and experience the superior customer service that Frontier offers. In addition, we applaud the efforts put forth by our employees in the face of some of our busiest travel days ever." The following table represents comparisons for August, fiscal second quarter 2004 and calendar year-over-year traffic results.
