Apr 20, 2003Frontier Airlines Reports Preliminary April 2003 TrafficDENVER (May 7, 2003) - Frontier Airlines (Nasdaq: FRNT) today announced preliminary traffic results for April 2003. Revenue passenger miles (RPMs) increased 25.0 percent to 339,263,000 for April 2003 from the same period last year. Available seat miles (ASMs) increased 26.4 percent to 556,959,000 for April 2003 from the same period last year. This resulted in a load factor for April 2003 of 60.9 percent, a decrease of 0.7 points from April 2002. The airline carried 366,245 passengers during April 2003. The airline reported an average fare of $102 for the month of April 2003, an 8.9 percent decrease from April 2002, when the airline's average fare was $112. The airline's preliminary April 2003 traffic results do not include statistics of Mesa Air Group, operating as Frontier JetExpress. Because JetExpress enplanements were included in the airline's March 2003 traffic results, the airline has provided amended preliminary March 2003 traffic results that exclude JetExpress enplanements. "Our April traffic was negatively impacted by a March blizzard that shut our Denver call center down for several days; however, we are experiencing positive benefits from a simplified fare structure put into place earlier this year and are entering the summer months with a relatively strong traffic base, " said Sean Menke, vice president of marketing and planning. The following table represents comparisons for Frontier's April, March (excluding JetExpress) and calendar year-over-year traffic results.
