Jan 20, 2003Frontier Airlines Reports Preliminary January 2003 TrafficDENVER (Feb. 7, 2003) Frontier Airlines (Nasdaq: FRNT) today announced preliminary traffic results for January 2003. Revenue passenger miles (RPMs) increased 40.3 percent to 284,835,000 for January 2003 from the same period last year. Available seat miles (ASMs) increased 38.6 percent to 542,117,000 for January 2003 from the same period last year. This resulted in a load factor for January 2003 of 52.5 percent, an increase of 0.6 points from January 2002. The airline carried 315,694 passengers during January 2003. The airline reported an average fare of $110 for the month of January 2003, a 14.7 percent decrease from January 2002, when the airlines average fare was $129. Our January traffic numbers continue to reflect the competitive environment in which we are operating given the weak demand in our industry, said Sean Menke, vice president of marketing and planning, Earlier this week, we responded to these challenges by implementing a new simpler fare structure, which we believe will drive demand and increase loyalty to Frontier. The following table represents comparisons for January and fiscal year-over-year traffic results.
