Frontier Airlines Introduces More Seating Choice

STRETCH, SELECT and STANDARD seating now available

DENVER, March 12, 2012 - The airline that introduced its unique STRETCH seating option in 2010 has done itself one better. Denver-based Frontier Airlines now offers three seating choices.

Travelers can choose from the different levels of seating to suit their individual travel needs, including:

  • STRETCH – The front and exit rows of the aircraft, providing five to seven inches of additional legroom. Customers who choose STRETCH seating receive priority boarding and board in Zone 1 of the airline’s boarding process. STRETCH seating is available on the airline’s Airbus and Embraer 190 aircraft.
  • SELECT – The rows just behind STRETCH seating and in front of the exit rows on Airbus and Embraer 190s, offering the opportunity to sit nearer to the front of the plane. On Frontier Express aircraft without STRETCH seating, the front rows are now SELECT seating. Those with SELECT seating receive priority boarding and board in Zone 2.
  • STANDARD – Seats behind the exit rows, as well as non-reclining seats in front of the exit rows.

“The popularity of our three fare options – Classic Plus, Classic and Economy – confirmed for us that customers appreciate the opportunity to choose which services are important to them on any particular flight,” explained Dan Krause, vice president of Marketing and Customer Experience for Frontier. “We believe that offering three seating options will further enhance the already high-value experience our customers receive when they travel on Frontier.”

STANDARD seating requires no additional fee with any fare type. An upgrade to STRETCH or SELECT seating varies in price based on the type of fare purchased by the traveler.

  • Classic Plus fares provide access to complimentary STRETCH or SELECT seating at the time of ticket purchase or check-in.
  • Classic fares provide access to complimentary SELECT seating at the time of ticket purchase. Classic also offers a discounted price for purchase of an upgrade to STRETCH seating at the time of ticket purchase or check-in. STRETCH seating upgrades begin at $5 per flight.
  • Economy fares may purchase an upgrade to STRETCH or SELECT seating at the time of ticket purchase or check-in. Upgrades to STRETCH seating begin at $15 per flight; upgrades to SELECT seating begin at $5 per flight.

Summit and Ascent members of Frontier’s EarlyReturns® program are eligible for seating upgrades regardless of the type of fare purchased. Summit members can reserve a complimentary STRETCH or SELECT seat at the time of ticket purchase or check-in. Ascent members can request a free upgrade to STRETCH seating at check-in or upgrade to SELECT seating for no additional fee at the time of ticket purchase. To join EarlyReturns, visit FrontierAirlines.com/joinearlyreturns.

For more information, visit FrontierAirlines.com/seatingoptions. The ability to select from the seating options at the time of ticket purchase – or to purchase the Classic Plus or Classic fare options – is available only on the airline’s website, FrontierAirlines.com.

All seating is limited and based on availability. STRETCH and SELECT seating is not available in advance of the day of travel on certain aircraft in a limited number of markets. On those flights, STRETCH seats may be purchased at check-in, if available.
